Basic “Getting Started” Tips for PAN Users

UPDATE: Curious as to why everything is different in PAN 2.0? Read this.

We’ll be posting a plethora of tips in the coming days/weeks, but I wanted to kick this off with a simple list of the most core actions across the new network.

PAN 2.0 is built using Buddypress open source software. Buddypress is a modification of the original WordPress core software and works as an extension of WordPress.

Essentially, our entire network is WordPress powered.

With this being the case we’re able to link to a lot of existing external documentation and guides on proper use of the system. Here are a few to help get you started.

I’ll be posting a LOT more of these so keep an eye out on the updates.

Thanks,
-Eric Odom

Dear Eric, I tried to create a profile about 2 weeks ago. I didn’t think it took, and then went on vacation. I’m home, and have tried to sign up for PAN 2.0, but I can’t find where I wrote down my info. Now, it says my e-mail address is already in use, so I guess it “took” 2 weeks ago, but I can’t remember what I used for a user name or password.. HELP. Ron

  7. Patty Parrett says:

Tried to reset password and never got an email for a new password. After several tries got message that account doesn’t exist and need to set up new account. How do I get into my old account? I am a long time member and don’t want to start over.

  8. Irene Madej says:

Okay, my profile no longer shows the groups I’ve joined or the friends. How do I get these back?

    • Groups and friends won’t be carried over. Groups because they’re all different now. Friends because Ning wouldn’t give us that data.

That said, we hope to have the old site opened tomorrow and will have it online for a few months while we complete the transition.

      Thanks,
      -Eric

Will keep trying, or blow up this computer! Hopefully, nothing’s changed on the Facebook side. Later!

  10. Dominick Farruggio says:

Dear Eric, I tried to log in and I keep getting the same message error with PW I also tried to re-register and am told that the e-mail I used is not available. I’ve been a member shortly after Resistnet was started and if I cannot log in then it will be time to move on, I’ll try again in a day.

  12. I lost all of my friends and contacts with the new changes, now I feel like a lost orphan on a merry-go-round, don’t know where I am going or how to get there? O-Well! >

    Shalom!

  13. Why do we not get an email message when someone posts to a site? This was a great function that saved time to scan what conversations were happening and get information about petitions and phonebanks, etc. I am really concerned because there were 1300 people on the old Florida site and the new site has 13 with no one writng on the old or new sites. We were organized for 2012 and now there is nothing in place.

  18. Dianne from Oregon says:
